Dr Anne Wigley
It is with deep sadness that the Partners advise patients of the death of Dr Anne Wigley, on Friday 26th July 2024. Formerly a partner at Leopold Street Surgery, Dr Wigley was pivotal in moving the surgery to Macklin Street in the mid-1990s. Dr Wigley served for many years as Senior Partner of Macklin Street Surgery before her retirement from partnership in 1998, but continued to work at the practice on a locum basis for a number of years.
Dr Wigley read Medicine at King’s College, London, and was highly respected by her clinical colleagues and the staff who worked alongside her. She served as President of Derby Medical Society, one of the oldest medical societies in England, and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners. Many hundreds, if not thousands of patients registered at Macklin Street Surgery will have known Dr Wigley who transformed the lives of many through her professionalism, commitment to medicine, and dedication to the care of others. We offer our most sincere condolences to Dr Wigley’s family and friends and our gratitude to those who cared for Dr Wigley towards the end of her life.
