Contraception
All the doctors will give contraceptive advice. For more information about Implants and Coils, please visit our Implants and Coils page. If you decide on a coil, this will need a special appointment with the doctor.

Emergency Contraception
If you have had sex without the protection of contraception and you want to prevent pregnancy, it is important that you see a doctor as soon as possible for after-sex contraception.
The emergency pill can be used up to 72 hours after unprotected sex and, if appropriate, an emergency coil can be fitted up to five days after unprotected sex.
This service is also provided by some local pharmacists.
Blood Tests
The practice nurses will take blood tests for those patients who are unable to get to hospital. Please ask the reception staff for further details.
If you would like to find out your blood test results, please contact the practice.
Child Health
Childhood immunisation clinics are held at the surgery. At the first immunisation appointment a routine medical check will be made.
Full childhood immunisation is extremely important. We suggest you discuss this with your health visitor soon after the birth of your child.
Flu Vaccination
Each autumn we run ‘flu vaccination clinics’ for those people for whom it is recommended.
The recommendations change from year to year but, in general, if you are aged over 65 or if you have:
- heart disease
- chest problems (including asthma)
- kidney problems
- diabetes
- other long term physical illness
we would recommend a vaccination against flu.
Please check with a doctor, nurse or receptionist each August/September to find out if you should be immunised.
Cervical Smears
Routine cervical smears are done by the doctor or the practice nurse. To book a cervical smear, please contact reception, stating that this is what you want so that everything can be made ready before you arrive.
If you have had a cervical smear in another country, please bring record of this to the surgery so that your records can be updated.
